Bear Valley Springs Shooting Range
The Bear Valley Springs Shooting Range is a secure, member-exclusive facility dedicated to promoting firearm safety, marksmanship, and responsible recreation.

The range includes three designated areas — Pistol | Rifle | Trap — each equipped with covered and fenced bays, safety baffles, and bench seating for a comfortable and supervised shooting experience. The facility is operated by NRA-certified Range Safety Officers (RSOs) to ensure a safe and controlled environment for all participants.

Use & Requirements:
– Authorized for rifle, pistol, and shotgun use only
– Members: Free | Guests: $10/day (must be accompanied by a member)
– All shooters must:
• Complete the Gun Range Safety Exam (minimum score of 80%)
• Sign the Release of Liability
• Review and initial the Rules & Regulations before use
– All firearms and ammunition must be inspected by an RSO prior to shooting
– Minors (ages 7–17) may participate only under the direct supervision of their legal guardian

Note:

Scheduling & Check-In:
– Appointments must be scheduled by Friday at 3:00 PM for weekend use.
– Appointments are required and may be extended only with RSO approval.
– All shooters must arrive at least 15 minutes early to participate in the mandatory Safety Briefing.

Closures:
– Range availability is subject to weather conditions, fire danger levels, and RSO staffing.
– The facility may close due to adverse weather, scheduled matches, maintenance, or holidays.
– Members are encouraged to confirm availability prior to traveling to the range.

Range Safety & Conduct:
– All participants must comply with BVSA Gun Range Rules & Regulations and follow all RSO instructions.
– Eye and ear protection are required at all times while on the range.
– Rapid fire (more than two shots per second) is prohibited.
– The following are strictly prohibited: smoking, vaping, alcohol, and drug use.
– Shooting at wildlife or non-approved targets is not permitted.
– Only one firearm per station; firearms must remain unloaded, cased, or open when not in use.
– Fully automatic firearms and armor-piercing ammunition are not allowed.
– Children under 7 years old are not permitted on the range.
– RSOs have full authority to halt any unsafe behavior and may remove participants for any safety violation.

Guest Policy:
– Guests must be sponsored by a BVSA member in good standing.
– All guests must complete required forms, pass the Gun Safety Exam, and attend with their sponsoring member.
– Guest Fee: $10 per person paid by 3:00 pm Friday (cash not accepted at the range).

Important Notes:
– Shooters are responsible for cleaning up brass, targets, and benches before leaving the facility.
– Personal targets are allowed only if BVSA-approved (no glass, cans, or explosive materials).
– RSO decisions are final and must be followed at all times.

Wildlife Notice:
Wildlife is an integral part of the Bear Valley Springs community. It’s common to encounter elk, deer, and other animals along Deertrail Drive and in the vicinity of the range.
– Drive slowly and cautiously, especially during dawn and dusk.
– Shooting activities may be temporarily paused if wildlife are near the range.
– Members and guests must respect all wildlife and refrain from approaching, feeding, or disturbing animals.
